SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
What
is a PWCA Scholarship?
PWCA
scholarships provide financial assistance to high school seniors who exhibit
excellence in a well-rounded educational and
extracurricular program. The scholarships are made possible by the Annual PWCA
Convention and Clinic, and are administered by the PWCA Scholarship Committee.
Who is eligible for a PWCA Scholarship?
Any
current high school senior wrestler who:
Is
enrolled in a public or accredited private school in Pennsylvania.
Has
attained a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale for the three
previous academic years. (Grades 9, 10 and 11)
Is
planning to continue their education beyond high school in an accredited
institution of higher education or technical
school.
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.
The PWCA Scholarship Committee will consider the following for purposes of
awarding scholarships.

Academic Achievement
B.
Athletic Achievement
C.
Essay Content
2.
May be used at any institution of recipient's choice. Education program must be
designed to take one or more years to complete.
3.
Recipients will be announced in May and receive a letter from the PWCA. A list
of all winners will be sent to their guidance counselors. Non-recipients will
not be notified.
4.
All winners must submit a certificate of admission or a letter of acceptance to
the PWCA Scholarship Committee by June 1st. No letter; no scholarship.
5.
Scholarships can be used for: tuition, books, laboratory fees and other academic
costs, room and board when a student is housed under the control of the
institution.
6.
Scholarship checks are sent directly to the Financial Aid Office of the
institutions in the 3rd week in August by the PWCA. If the student is
already receiving financial aid from the
institution,
a check could be sent to the individual upon receipt of receipts for books,
tuition etc. The check will be sent when the
receipts are received .by the PWCA.
7.
If a recipient leaves the institution and there are PWCA scholarship funds
remaining, the institution shall return the balance to the PWCA.
8.
If a scholarship winner must delay their education for any reason, the
scholarship will be held up to 2 years from the date of high school graduation.
